Fitting a photovoltaic panel?

So you have decided to invest in having a photovoltaic panel installation. You have probably looked on the internet and seen the price difference in the panels themselves and seen the horror stories about the cowboys in the profession.

Don't let the cowboys fit your panels

How can you protect yourself ? Do some research. Reputable fitters will be registered with a professional industry association. Check their credentials, do they have a demonstrable track record?

Ensure you give yourself plenty of time to read the contract before you sign it. Are there any cancellation costs or additional charges? Is there an allowance for scaffolding? Fitting panels cannot safely be carried out from a ladder. Are your payments protected by an independent insurance scheme?

Which photovoltaic panel should you choose?

When choosing which panel to use don’t just consider cost, the cheapest is not always the best. The performance of the panel is key. The better makes of panel will have a guarantee against a fall off in performance. Like all things the older they get, the worse they perform!
